Experience and talent in art, excellent interpersonal skills.
ArtCorps will provide travel expenses (up to $1,000) and an allowance for art materials; The host organization is responsible for providing food and housing for the volunteer; Stipends paid to the hosting organization to cover the artist's room and board may be available; Volunteers are expected to do their own fundraising to cover incidental living expenses and health or travel insurance. Criteria of choosing an artist will be based on: - Good interpersonal communications - Ability to work in a team - Ability to adapt to available resources - Multi disciplinary creativity - Fluency of the local language The NGO may suggest a specific art form or artist they know would be effective for their community or project. |

ArtCorps was created in April 1999 by New England Biolabs Foundation as a pilot project for three years, uses artists to fill the communication gap between non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and their constituencies, thereby increasing the effectiveness of their messages.
Provides an opportunity for artists to combine their artistic talents with their interests in social causes. |
