Capacity Building Workshops
The rural, indigenous people that make up the majority of the Western Highlands region’s population face the greatest levels of poverty and social exclusion in Guatemala. As a result, hundreds of organisations have committed themselves to the development of their communities. However, the majority of these organisations are struggling to survive due to limited funds and resources, and require additional skills and training to manage their organisation, deliver effective programmes to the communities they serve, and make their organisation sustainable. The need for assistance to these organisations to help them build their capacity and effectiveness is imperative to the development of their organisations, communities and the country as a whole.
Due to this demonstrated and immediate need for capacity-building, EntreMundos has begun to focus more in this area and has created a region-wide reputation for itself as a leading source of organisational development assistance. Our Community Capacity Building Programme, currently in its third year, has already delivered high quality, high impact training to over 120 local organisations and cooperatives in the Western Highlands of Guatemala.
Our programme benefits disadvantaged, indigenous organisations and community groups by empowering them to initiate and succeed in their activities. It will provide them and their communities with the tools and skills needed to plan, implement and successfully execute and evaluate projects to improve their economic, social and cultural development.
EntreMundos’ pivotal role within the NGO sector in the Western Highlands – our extensive contacts, relationships with organisations and development resources– gives us a unique advantage to continue addressing this urgent need for institutional capacity-building.
