Free Online Resources
There is an abundance of free resources available online to assist development organisations in all aspects of organisational management. Below is a list of just a few that may be useful to you.
Association of Charitable Foundations (www.acf.org.uk).
ACF is a UK wide support organisation for grant making trusts and foundations. A subscription is required to access the foundation database, however they also offer some free documents and leaflets containing fundraising advice.
Funder Finder (www.funderfinder.org).
FunderFinder is a small UK charity which produces software programmes and other resources, mainly for grant-seekers. Some of the products and literature they produce are free, including PDFs offering fundraising advice. Other books and directories available from their resource centre have a charge levied on them.
The International Development Directory (www.devdir.org).
The purpose of this website is to provide free resources and information to the development community around the world. There are PDF versions of directories for every country in the world which can be downloaded for free with an additional feature allowing you to personalise each directory in order to make it more relevant to the activities of your organisation.
International Human Rights Funders Group (www.hrfunders.org).
This organisation provides a free funders database for development organisations seeking funding, with information including contact information, area of focus and guidelines for applying for grants.
IT for Charities (www.itforcharities.co.uk).
This site provides information on free and discounted software and hardware specifically designed for development organisations as well as links to product reviews and evaluations.
National Network of Grantmakers (www.nng.org).
Has information and advice for development organisations on applying for grants as well as a downloadable common grant application that is accepted by many grant making bodies that do not carry their own specific grant template.
NGO Café (www.gdrc.org/ngo).
NGO café is think tank which assists NGOs in improving and enhancing their programmes and activities. It offers free advice on starting up and NGO, fundraising, office management, networking and project management.
Nonprofit Good Practice Guide (www.npguides.org).
This website provides free information and articles on all aspects of development organisation management including, advocacy, governance, fundraising, marketing communications and financial management.
