EntreMundos Policies

Out of concern for the welfare of children, organisations, and volunteers, EntreMundos has developed and launched three policies. We call for all organisations interested in using any of our services to read these policies carefully, and to commit to, and uphold, their principles. We also require all volunteers that use our services to familiarise themselves with these policies. In doing so, we can work together to create a safer environment for the children and organisations of Guatemala, and to avoid any unfortunate situations.

Our “Child Protection Policy for Organisational Cooperation” is an agreement between EntreMundos and the organisations with which we work. This document outlines the conditions for cooperation between EntreMundos and external parties as based on a commitment to child protection. The mission of this policy is twofold: to bring awareness to international standards regarding child treatment and protection, and to garner a commitment to these standards from our partners.

The “Code of Conduct for Volunteers Interacting with Children” was written with the objective of protecting children, organisations, and volunteers from unfortunate situations. It specifically identifies the appropriate and inappropriate behaviour for volunteers while working – whether directly or indirectly – with children. The vision of this document is to educate volunteers about acceptable behaviour, as well as to draw host organisations´ attention to the risks involved with volunteer/child interactions.

“EntreMundos´ Behavioural Guidelines for Volunteers” outlines the expectations that EntreMundos and the host organisations have of volunteers´ behaviour during their work. With regards to the volunteers, the goal is to provide education about host organisations´ expectations, as well as to inform them of ways to be maximally effective in their work. Concerning the host organisation, this policy encourages high expectations of the volunteers they commit to working with.

We encourage all organisations to develop their own Volunteer Management Policies. Feel free to use the above policies as a template.
