EntreMundos' Volunteer Placement Programme offers professional and friendly advice to help you find the best possible volunteer placement. Our Volunteer Drop-in Centre is open Monday to Thursday from 1pm to 5pm in our offices in Xela, 6a Calle 7-31, Zona 1. For a donation of Q25 you will receive personal assistance with finding a volunteer position suited to your specific needs, free use of the computers with high-speed internet and help making phone calls to NGOs with any specific questions about a volunteer opportunity or to confirm your volunteer placement.
Alternatively you can search our free online Volunteer Opportunities Database where we have information and listings on over 150 organisations seeking volunteers in all fields of work.
For the people that like to arrange a volunteer work placement before leaving home, EntreMundos can also provide extensive personalized help with finding a position and making arrangements on your behalf. EntreMundos has developed and fostered partnerships with over 150 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), mostly in the Western Highlands, ranging from small community organisations to mid-size NGOs working in the fields of development, health, as well as human rights of women and indigenous people. Here are just a couple of organisations we work with.
ENVIRONMENT: Safe Stove Project/Estufas Mejoradas

Take part in a lifesaving and environmentally-focused programme that aids needy families in rural Mayan villages by building stoves to replace smoky open fires. Train to lead the project or do publicity, party preperations and fundraising. Minimum volunteer time: 1 day. Basic Spanish level. Contact Eric at ericjames.shaw@gmail.com or phone (502) 5159 3228.
WOMEN/HUMAN RIGHTS: Asociación Nuevos Horizontes
Work with children or the office in Guatemala´s only shelter for women escaping abuse. Plan and lead children´s sports, games and outings, and help with homework or hygiene training. Help with fundraising, or give presentations to outside groups. Minimum volunteer time: 6 weeks. Basic Spanish level. Check website for more information: www.ahnh.org
YOUTH: Asociación Gente Joven Guatemala
Help directors to develop and sustain this small organisation that aids youths aged between 15 and 30 in areas of education, human rights etc. They are currently in search of teachers, therapists etc. experienced with youth. Current project is gathering and distributing 1000 pairs of shoes. Minimum volunteer time: 1 week. Intermediate Spanish level.
