We are honored to name Molly Tenzer
\nas our Volunteer of the Month. Molly
\nhas been working for more than 6
\nmonths in the Maya Mam community
\nof San Mar tin Sacatep\u00e9quez.
\nUNODESMA, an umbrella organization
\nfor San Martin\u00b4s community
\nassociations, needed a volunteer
\nwith Advanced Spanish and English
\nlanguage skills, excellent writing
\nskills, and a motivation to learn the
\nprocess of international grant writing
\nwithout much direct supervision. In
\nMolly, they have received a volunteer
\nwho exceeds those requirements,
\nand brings many valuable personal
\nqualities to the position. Molly has
\ndemonstrated a willingness to
\nlearn, self-confidence and great
\ninterpersonal skills, and the ability
\nto lead a diverse group through
\nproblem-solving discussions. Using
\nher cultural understanding and
\nperseverance, Molly has worked
\ntowards revitalizing a community
\norganization. She assisted in the
\nformation of a sewing cooperative,
\nand collaborated on projects with
\nSan Martin-based Peace Corps
\nVolunteer Angela Prieto, Asociaci\u00f3n
\nde Mujeres del Altiplano (AMA),
\nSan Martin\u2019s dynamic non-profit
\nXela-AID, and has translated in local
\ndevelopment conferences. Molly also
\ntaught English at CEIPA in Salcaj\u00e1, a
\nschool for working children (ages
\n7-15) who aren\u2019t able to attend public
\nschool. For all of these reasons, Molly
