Come with salad, cheese and picante. (no vegetarian option)<\/p>\n<h3>Churrasco<\/h3>\n<p>Basically a big BBQ, choose from a big range of grilled meats, traditionally served with spring onions, frijoles and rice. (vegetarian possible but probably not that enjoyable!)<br \/>\nTypes of meat available<br \/>\n<strong>Adobado<\/strong> \u2013 Spicy marinated pork<br \/>\n<strong>Chorizo<\/strong> \u2013 Sausage with paprika<br \/>\n<strong>Longaniza<\/strong> \u2013 Sausage with herbs<br \/>\n<strong>Pollo<\/strong> \u2013 Normally served as leg, but can request pechuga for breast<br \/>\n<strong>Asada<\/strong> \u2013 Basic Steak<br \/>\n<strong>Lomito<\/strong> and <strong>puyazo<\/strong> \u2013 more expensive cuts of beef (normally only found in restaurants)<br \/>\n<strong>Cheveres<\/strong> \u2013 A hot dog served with onions and different sauces (no vegetarian option).<\/p>\n<h3>Enchiladas<\/h3>\n<p>This normally a hard tortilla topped with different types of meat, vegetables and sauces. They normally start serving around 6pm and will continue until you\u2019re heading back from your night out.<br \/>\nThe corner that backs onto the market normally has the biggest variety of options and is also where they hold bigger food markets on special festival days and the first Sunday of the month. Here you can find <strong>tacos<\/strong> (only pork), <strong>pupusas<\/strong>, <strong>chicken and chips<\/strong>, <strong>garnachas<\/strong> for 10Q and <strong>sweet hot drinks<\/strong> normally made from corn and rice for 5Q.<br \/>\nThere are also some tiendas to be found in the corner next to the SAT building where they have the same kind of <strong>tacos<\/strong> for 10Q, as well as different types of <strong>cheveres<\/strong> with differing prices.<br \/>\nOur favorite spot in the Central Park is <strong>Do\u00f1a Betty\u2019s churrasco<\/strong> stand that opens up around 9 every night outside BANRURAL. She has been at the Central Park forever and regularly has a good sized queue meaning you sometimes have to wait a bit, but it is definitely worth it for the great selection of meat on offer.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Shaddai Cafeteria &#8211; 9a Avenida 9-21 \u2013 6pm to 8:30pm Monday to Saturday (8pm Sunday)<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5271\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5271\" style=\"width: 283px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/shaddai.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5271\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/shaddai-300x225.jpg?resize=283%2C212\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/shaddai.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/shaddai.jpg?resize=72%2C54&amp;ssl=1 72w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/shaddai.jpg?resize=335%2C251&amp;ssl=1 335w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/shaddai.jpg?w=532&amp;ssl=1 532w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 283px) 100vw, 283px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5271\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cafeteria Shaddai<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is an extremely basic little family run restaurant has been serving chiles rellenas (10Q) and enchiladas (6Q) for 35 years. Everything is made with minced pork, red onion and teamed up with a great spicy tomato saucy, which is a must try. Don\u2019t let the simplicity put you off, the food here is super fresh as it is prepared just hours before service and the place is so popular that it is normally completely full for the entire two hours it is open, closing when the food runs out.<br \/>\nIf you\u2019re looking to immerse yourself in everything that is Xela, this is the place for you. Up the road from the Central Park, it\u2019s always packed full of locals owing to the bustling atmosphere. The service is extremely friendly and impressively rapid at the same time, whether you are taking away or eating in!<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Los Cheros Pupuseria y T\u00edpicos \u2013 Parque Calvario, 19 Avenida 3 Calle \u2013 Open normally 12pm onwards<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5265\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5265\" style=\"width: 143px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/los-cheros-e1545257501880.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5265 \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/los-cheros-e1545257501880-169x300.jpg?resize=143%2C254\" alt=\"\" width=\"143\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/los-cheros-e1545257501880.jpg?resize=169%2C300&amp;ssl=1 169w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/los-cheros-e1545257501880.jpg?w=309&amp;ssl=1 309w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 143px) 100vw, 143px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5265\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Los Cheros<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Probably the place in Xela to go for pupusas, these guys have every sort of filling you can dream of, both meat and vegetarian. These are a bit more pricey than the Central Park, setting you back around 20-25Q depending on the filling you want. It\u2019s easy to get lost in all the different options they have here, although our favorite is the simple cheese and garlic.<br \/>\nThis place is hard to miss, you just need to try and spot the big grill outside, and if you are coming from the centre it should be the first thing you come across. Again, the space is limited relative to the number of customers, so if you see a table grab it quick!<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Churrasco around Calle Rodolfo Robles<\/h3>\n<p>There\u2019s so many good churrasco places in this area we decided to give you three all within a stone\u2019s throw of each other, but offering something completely different.<\/p>\n<h4>Al Azado Criollo \u2013 12pm to 10:30pm \u2013 19 Avenida, 0-07 zona 3<\/h4>\n<p>These guys have the best marinades and sauces around! Best option is the chicken with chimichurri sauce. A place is 35Q and comes with great roast potatoes and a kind of Sauerkraut.<\/p>\n<h4>Cajol\u00e1 \u2013 12pm to 10-11pm \u2013 Calle 1 and Calle Cajol\u00e1, Zona 3<\/h4>\n<p>By far the cheapest sit down meal you will ever have! If you\u2019re looking for a big feed this is the spot.<\/p>\n<h4>Asadera La Coste\u00f1ita \u2013 12pm to 10pm \u2013 17 avenida 0-14 zona 3<\/h4>\n<p>Aside from spending a fortune in a steakhouse this is the best place in Xela for really good quality meat, particularly beef. It comes at a bit of a premium with dishes starting at 35Q, but the sides are great and they also offer great value \u2018family deals\u2019 if you\u2019re with a group.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Platenitos at the Theatre<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5269\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5269\" style=\"width: 183px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/platenos.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5269\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/platenos-225x300.jpg?resize=183%2C244\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/platenos.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/platenos.jpg?resize=335%2C447&amp;ssl=1 335w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.entremundos.org\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/platenos.jpg?w=564&amp;ssl=1 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5269\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Platenitos<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Our dessert option in the list takes us up to the theatre and is the perfect place to head after dinner or just for a snack. The \u2018Platenito\u2019 tienda takes deep fried plantains and sweetens with sugar and cinnamon, before topping with cream for a simple but tasty dessert.
